Testimonials for Community and Family Studies HSC Checkpoints study guide

16 SEPTEMBER 2016
Community and Family Studies, one of our new HSC Checkpoints titles, is selling extremely well and with the testimonials for CAFS teachers below, it's not strange to see why.

"HSC Community and Family Studies Checkpoints 2017-2019 is the most comprehensive resource that has been developed for this subject to date. It is concise and very easy to read and use for both teachers and students. The format is in line with the syllabus which allows the students to make study notes. I like the easy to read revision summaries with actual HSC questions and answers available. Chapter 8 is particularly valuable to students with the simple code demonstrating how to answer questions to maximise their marks in the HSC. I will definitely be making sure this resource is used at my school.

Thank you Kelly and Kate for your passion and dedication to the subject over many years and the staff and students of NSW."

-Lee-Anne Pares , Relieving Deputy Principal – Mitchell HS / Past CAFS Senior marker and Examination Committee

"This resource is fantastic. It is so easy to follow and with each section of the syllabus broken down and with key points and hints it will be easy to show my students what exactly they need to know and how to incorporate it all in a response. And with past HSC questions and their sample answers, this is how my students will see what is expected!

The quizzes are a fantastic as well! The link is able to be accessed easily and you can do them in class as a quick revision activity. I did them on my phone and they tell you straight away of the correct answer!

I recommend you all to buy it!! A huge thanks to Kel and Kate for always thinking of ways to help the CAFS community and our wonderful students."

-Jocelyn Atmore - CAFS teacher, Wadalba Community School NSW

"The Checkpoints HSC Community and Family Studies is a new and valuable resource available to both students and teachers. The book covers the HSC core topics along with the two most studied options. The introductory notes on preparing and studying for the CAFS HSC exam offer constructive tips and insights from experienced teachers/markers. I particularly like the layout of this book – using syllabus excerpts followed by an information summary and sample questions (with answers) – as it is very accessible to all students. The inclusion of the 2015 HSC paper with guided answers is a positive inclusion. I would certainly recommend this book to both students and teachers as a significant addition to the available CAFS resources."

-Sue Torr, Head of PDHPE, Macarthur Girls High School

"The new Cambridge Checkpoints HSC CAFS resource is inspiring for teachers and students. This diverse resource will help teachers work in the 21 century with focus points, hints and tips, sample questions with answers and other revision materials such as the Quiz Me app. I am teaching in a rural area in NSW and this Checkpoints title is a helpful guide for teachers and students who cannot access other support like our co workers/students in the city. All I can say is this resource is a must for all teachers (new and existing) and students. My Year 12s have already put in an order!"

– Jane Sleeman, Calrossy Anglican School, Tamworth

"As an experienced CAFS teacher, the new Checkpoints HSC CAFS resource is a refreshing and motivating tool for both staff and students. The user friendly design and structure of the guide, which includes sample questions and answers along with other useful revision material, is an outstanding resource to compliment student study programs particularly in the lead up to the HSC exam. As a teacher, I have been able to effectively include the guide as an additional resource when preparing and presenting dynamic and engaging lessons that encourage students to develop skills in applying syllabus content.  A fabulous resource which comes highly recommended!"

– Laura Bernasconi - Monte Sant Angelo Mercy College

"The Cambridge Checkpoints HSC CAFS is an excellent resource for both experienced and beginner Stage 6 CAFS teachers. As with all resources in the Checkpoint series, the information presented is well-ordered, following the structure and content of the HSC CAFS Syllabus. The reference to past papers is clearly articulated and, although there is currently only one past HSC paper available to refer to since the recent syllabus revision, the authors have considered the need to have access to similar questions and have subsequently adapted questions and modified sample responses accordingly. The Cambridge Checkpoints HSC CAFS assists both teachers and students in their HSC journey and complements the current textbooks and resources currently available. I use this study guide regularly in my teaching practice and have ensured that students also have access to copies in our school library."

– Rachelle Pirie, PDHPE Coordinator – Moorefield Girls High School

"The new Checkpoints guide is a great resource for students and teachers of the Community and Family Studies course. It provides an excellent summary and clarification of the content that is a great addition for students’ course notes and an extra resource to assist teachers in their delivery of information.  The guide has great examples that allow students to understand how the content can be applied. The inclusion of questions and sample answers is a great way for students to understand the questions that could be asked, how to apply the content appropriately and what an answer should look like. A great additional resource for teachers and students!"

– Alex Salier - Monte Sant Angelo Mercy College
