  1. When is the book available?
    The book was made available in 2006.
  2. Does this textbook cover both Ancient and Medieval societies?
    Absolutely! This allows teachesr to cover the topics in any order across Year 7 and 8, and provides a cost saving to the student: only having to buy one book.
  3. Does the book include material on the Age of Exploration as discussed in VELS?
    Chapter 9 of Monumental History is in fact dedicated to the Age of Exploration. It focuses on questions such as:
    Which countries were involved in exploration?
    What problems did explorers experience?
    Why did countries want to explore the unkown world?
    What problems did explorers experience? and
    How did explorers naviagte?
    The chapter also profiles various famous explorers.
  4. What is the purpose of the student reflection sheets?
    Part of the VELS experience according to the Personal Learning domain is that 'students need to understand what it means to learn, who they are as learners and how emotions affect learning. They also need to develop skills in planning, monitoring and revising their work, and reflecting on and modifying their learning practices.' The student reflection sheets are designed to assist in this process.
